Waiariki Institute of Technology
Waiariki Institute of Technology was a tertiary institution based in the city of Rotorua, New Zealand. In May 2016, it merged with Bay of Plenty Polytechnic to form Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology.
The well-crafted interior lay out by APR Architects is a clever transition of the symbolism of Maori culture into spatial design. Although designed for Maori Studies, the space is intended to be used by all cultures, two of the main themes of the symbols are the sharing of knowledge and emphasis on catering for the diversity of the campus population.
An AA207 profile has been used on the wooden staircases throughout, with 2 x 43mm Neutral Black inserts. The profile has a natural satin finish and a 36mm drop on the riser.
